YIMBY Law

Sonja Trauss is the founder and Executive Director of YIMBY Law, the legal arm of the prohousing
movement, working to end the housing shortage and achieve affordable, sustainable, and
equitable housing for all. YIMBY Law has won four lawsuits recently against LA, and recently
initiated an action to enforce LA's housing element. YIMBY Law engages hundreds of
volunteers to monitor city and county compliance with pro-housing laws, providing public
comments and reporting on public meetings through its work leading the Campaign for Fair
Housing Elements. They have been at the forefront of enforcement of California's Housing
Accountability Act, ensuring that cities approve projects that are consistent with the objective
standards in their zoning and general plans.
