Alex Fisch

Special Assistant Attorney General

Alex Fisch currently serves as Special Assistant Attorney General for housing, overseeing the
California Department of Justice Housing Justice Team and coordinating the Attorney General’s
housing-related initiatives. Alex was previously a Deputy Attorney General in the DOJ’s Natural
Resources Law Section, representing agencies like the California Air Resources Board, Water
Boards, CAL FIRE, CalRecycle, and Department of Fish and Wildlife. Before entering state
service, Alex was a shareholder at the bankruptcy law boutique Stutman, Treister & Glatt
Professional Corporation. Before that, Alex clerked for the Honorable Arthur L. Alarcón of the
United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Alex was also a city council member in Culver City from 2018 through 2022, and was the city's
mayor from 2020 to 2021. While in elected office, Alex served on the Southern California
Association of Governments Regional Council, the Housing Economic and Community
Development Committee, and the Legislative Communications & Membership Committee, and
chaired the Next Generation Infrastructure Subcommittee. He was recognized as 2022's "Local
Elected Official of the Year" by the California Home Building Alliance.

Alex graduated from the UCLA School of Law with a specialization in Business Law and Policy
focused on corporate finance, and was elected to Order of the Coif. He received his bachelor’s
degree from U.C. Berkeley.
